The simulation of important concepts in HPLC is accomplished through the use of provided Excel macros. The exercise is written with explicit instructions that can be used as an at-home laboratory exercise or as supporting material for lectures on chromatograpic theory. Macros are included for isocratic, linear and step gradient, and non-ideal behaviors (Langmuir, adsorption at active sites). Chromatographic conditions are easily manipulated and result in intuitive real-time plots. The macros themselves can be modified as desired by the user. Source material is found in Kadjo and Dasgupta, Anal. Chim. Acta, 2013, 773, 1-8.
